PORTO ERCOLE

Il paese Porto Ercole, incastonato in una baia, circondato da fortezze spagnole, è da ammirare per la suggestiva bellezza. Interessanti sono le feste in onore del Patrono che si svolgono intorno al 2 Giugno con il Palio e il Paliotto Marinaro delle 4 Fortezze e la tipica processione a mare che si svolge con la partecipazione dei pescherecci addobbati ed illuminati per l’occasione. Manifestazione di particolare interesse religiosa e culturale è il Presepe Vivente, che si svolge ogni anno lungo le vie del centro storico di Porto Ercole Vecchio dal 24 dicembre al 6 gennaio.

The town of Porto Ercole, set in a bay and surrounded by Spanish forts, is of striking beauty. There are interesting festivals in honour of its patron saint around June 2nd and include the Palio and Paliotto Marinaro delle 4 Fortezze and the traditional sea procession with the local  shing boats decorated
and lit up for the occasion. A particularly interesting religious and cultural event is the Presepe Vivente (Living Nativity) which takes place every year in the streets of the historical centre of Porto Ercole Vecchio from December 24th to January 6th.
